About the Project
With funding support from a USDA Higher Education Challenge Grant, iVisit: Interactive Virtual Tours For Advancing Food And Agricultural Sciences (FAS) aims to bridge the gap between the need for immersive, interactive experiences in FAS and the lack of field trips that can be taken to fulfill this need. By using 3D spatial scanning technology, the team members of the iVisit project have created interactive virtual tours (IVTs) as well as supplemental learning materials that can be implemented in the classroom for a unique look into FAS facilities.

16 facilities have already been scanned for the iVisit project. A few sites are complete with embedded multimedia content and supplemental materials, while other sites are awaiting these enhancements. Supplemental and curriculum materials will be created for all of the IVTs, with varying release times. Visit our virtual tours page to learn more about available IVTs.
Behind the Scenes
Take a look behind the scenes at the process for completing a 3D scan. These scans are the basis for the interactive virtual tours (IVT), which is then complemented with the addition of supplemental materials throughout the IVT.
